Geography

KEY STAGE 3

Topics covered: What is Geography?; (5Ws and an H) Crime, Tourism, Trade or Aid (Ghana) and Restless Earth.  Students’ work is assessed using a variety of methods which include peer and self-assessment.  Where appropriate the results will be used to arrive at a National Curriculum Level.


KEY STAGE 4

The course focusses on real life world issues and the development of geographic skills such as:

  • Role play, debating and discussion
  • ICT skills
  • Fieldwork and coursework
  • Investigating, problem solving and decision making
  • Understanding graphs, maps, presenting and writing reports
  • Use of video, photographs and film
  • Co-operation and team work
  • Learning to work individually
  • Data collection
  • Empathy (understanding people’s feelings)
