In The Final Again!

The College Year 9 football team (pictured) reach the final of the English Schools Football Association Cup.

The Year 9 boys achieved an unequalled double by winning their cup semi final against Holy Family Catholic High School, therefore reaching the final for the second year in a row.

The match, played in perfect conditions, at the Blue Flame Sporting Club was watched by a sustantial crowd.

From the start Seaton Burn dominated the play with powerful attractive football. The athletisism and strength of James McCauley and the guile of Scott Beattie was proving to be a problem for the visitors.

Midway through the first half and after several missed chances, the home team took the lead.

A fierce 35 yard shot by James McCauley proved to much for the visitors keeper.

Half time came with the score at 1-0 to Seaton Burn.

The second half began as the first half ended but Holy Family School started to gain a foothold in the game.

Seaton Burn needed a second goal to steady the nerves but had to wait until 8 minutes from the end for it to come, but what a goal it was.

The move started in the home team half and progressed through Luke Betts who fed Leslie McAuley. He progressed into the opponents penalty area before unselfishly squaring the ball to Nathan Jeffery who finished the move with a firm shot into the net.

The game ended with the score at 2-0 to Seaton Burn.

The final will be played against Ibstock Place School, Richmond, Surrey on a date and venue to be decided.

Once again this was a good performance achieved in a manner which was a credit to the boys.
