Free School Meals

Did you know... just registering your child for Free School Meals means that the college gets extra money?  Register now to make sure our students don't miss out.


The Government provides additional money to schools to help children from lower income families do their very best. This funding is called the ‘Pupil Premium’.

For every child registered for Free School Meals, Seaton Burn's funding increases.

With this money we can continue to improve our students' learning experience and achievement. 

If you are eligible to do so, please register to make sure your child and others in our school don't miss out on this vital funding.




  1. First, check if you qualify – it is not just if you are unemployed, so please look at the list on the link at the bottom of this screen.
  2. Registering is really quick and easy – if you think you qualify, North Tyneside Council (NTC) now offers an eligibility test over the phone.  All parents have to do is call 0191 643 2288, select option 2 and state their national insurance number and date of birth. The operator will inform you there and then if your child/children are entitled to FSM or not.
  3. If you want your child to have a free, healthy meal at lunchtime that’s great – they will get the free meal (saving you more than £350 a year), and the college also receives the additional funding to help support our children's education.
  4. If you don’t want your child to have the school meals they can continue as normal – but as long as you qualify and are registered, the college still receives the funding so vital to our work. No one will know you have registered and it will not affect any other benefits you are claiming.
