Transition from Primary School

Transition Booklet

(depending on Internet speeds this booklet may take a short while to load.  Alternatively, a hard copy can be provided on request from our Reception)

Transition to Seaton Burn from our Seaton Burn Partnership primary schools is carefully organised to give children the skills and confidence they need to make a happy and exciting transition to the high school.

Our programme includes a huge range of visits and activities, and pupils from Year 3 upwards become very familiar with our school long before they transfer to us.

Pupils from other schools who would like to join in with our activities are very welcome to do so. Once you have made your application in Year 6, we will automatically invite you to Transition Week in July.

Some of our transition activities are : Key Stage 1 and 2 Gifted and Talented Art workshops; hands-on Technology Days (Years 3,4 and 5); Sci-tech@SeatonBurn Science Day (Year 4); 5-Schools Summer Music festival (years 1 -13); fortnightly sports teaching, with regular festivals and tournaments at SBC; a range of Year 6 visits including Transition Week in July.

We also organise trips and events for our Partnership pupils.

Year 7 parents tell us that our transition process is excellent :

'The transition period from GCPS to the College has been exceptional. Chloe has become more confident and independent in just a few weeks'

'Although Christopher has only been at the College a short time, we feel the transition from Primary to High School has been handled extremely well and he feels part of the school community'

'I have seen such a change in Ciara .... she is enthusiastic about school .... and her confidence is lovely to see'
